Air freight still gets booked the way flights were booked in the nineties: relationships, phone calls and rate sheets. This platform aggregates cargo capacity across airlines so a freight forwarder — or any company with something to ship — can find, compare and book it in one place. It is in build now.
The problem domain
A freight forwarder shipping by air deals with a fragmented market: each airline its own rates, routes, cut-off times and booking process. Comparing options means working several systems and phone lines in parallel, and smaller shippers — companies that just want their goods on a plane — are effectively locked out of direct access altogether.
What makes aggregation genuinely difficult here is that an air-cargo quote is not a price, it is a set of conditions. Cargo is charged on whichever is greater, actual or volumetric weight, so the same shipment can cost two different amounts depending on how it is packed. Capacity comes either from a pre-negotiated allotment or from whatever is left ad hoc on the day, and those behave nothing alike. Every routing has an origin cut-off, after which the flight might as well not exist. And a shipment carrying lithium batteries, pharmaceuticals or anything perishable is not comparable with general cargo at all — it needs an airline, a station and an aircraft that will accept it.

Two audiences, one platform
The forwarder and the direct shipper want opposite things from the same screen. A forwarder knows the vocabulary, works several shipments at once and wants density — every rate, every routing, minimum clicks. A company shipping its own goods wants to be told what to do, in plain language, with the industry's terminology explained rather than assumed. Serving both without building two products is the interesting design constraint of this engagement.
